Is it wise to seek the advice from a friend who is knowledgeable about a major component in your invention?

It depends on the advice. Are you asking them their opinion, such as would they as a consumer buy your product/device or are you asking them for help making modifications to your device/product? Because in my opinion if you are asking them for advice on modifications or they make suggestions that you incorporate into your design then they may become a co-inventor in the device/product and need to be included in your patent or other contracts you may acquire.
